Chainsaw Operative Groundworker

We are looking to grow our Managed Environments Arboriculture Department to work on various projects throughout the UK, this includes; HS2, Midlands Metro Alliance, Highways Projects and also large infrastructure projects.

As a Chainsaw Operative/Groundworker at RSS Infrastructure, you will be an essential part of a dynamic team responsible for performing various tree & de-vegetation activities, supporting the Arborist Climber, Machine Operators and Project Lead s.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Operate hand held equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with current regulations.
• Perform tree removal and vegetation clearance tasks.
• Demonstrate solid understanding of working in and around machinery and active work sites.
• Consider occupational and environmental risks to members of the workforce and the public.
• Maintain a healthy working relationship with Principal Contractors and/or Contractors, obtaining future work plans to assist growth.
• Follow project plans and safety guidelines stated within RAMS & POWRA.
• Maintain and inspect equipment regularly to comply with PUWER.
• Work as part of a team to complete projects and tasks in a timely manner.
• Excellent understanding of tree identification & characteristics.
• Work with industry best practices and deliver excellent standards of work.
• Ensuring to assist Site Supervisor and colleagues.

Role Requirements:

• Hold NPTC CS30, CS31.
• In date CSCS card (Including ROLO).
• Brush Cutter/Strimmer.
• First Aid at Work or Forestry First Aid Certificate.
• Full Clean UK Drivers Licence. (B+E Towing) Is desirable.

It is desirable that the candidate hold the following: (These are not essential as training will be provided for suitable candidate).

• Personal Track Safety (PTS).
• Wood Chipper.
• MEWP.
• Aerial Rescue.
• Advantageous to have had previous experience with working alongside heavy plant & machinery.
• Other associated training courses.
