Location: Oldham
Salary: 16.11 PH. Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only

Are you passionate about supporting young people in overcoming barriers to learning? Do you have experience working with children with challenging behaviour or special educational needs (SEN)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive and inclusive school in Oldham.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who may display challenging behaviour, helping them to regulate their emotions and engage positively in their education. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEN teams to implement behaviour support strategies, build positive relationships, and provide tailored interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with the school's policies.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to develop personalised support plans.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to help students develop resilience, confidence, and social skills.
  • Assist in de-escalating situations and managing behaviour in a calm and effective manner.
  • Provide support during lessons and around the school to ensure a safe and structured environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring, or support role.
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive approach to behaviour support.
  • A relevant qualification in education, psychology, youth work, or a related field (desirable).
  • Team Teach training or similar de-escalation training (desirable but not essential).
