Mobile Plant Engineer

Overview
We are looking for an experienced Engineer to work on mobile plant.
As there is a significant amount of fixed and mobile machinery across multiple sites, we need qualified engineers to carry out repairs and planned maintenance. The position will be covering Dumfries and Cumbria, with travel between sites and work at depot workshops.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance & Repairs - Diagnose, repair, and service a range of mobile plant machinery, including loading shovels, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) - Conduct scheduled servicing and inspections to prevent unexpected breakdowns and improve machine reliability.
• On-Site & Workshop Work - Travel between various company sites across Dumfries and Galloway or Cumbria to carry out maintenance, as well as perform repairs in depot workshops.
• Fault Diagnosis - Use diagnostic tools and technical expertise to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Health & Safety Compliance - Follow company safety policies and industry regulations while carrying out maintenance and repairs.
• Parts & Resource Management - Source and fit required parts efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Record Keeping - Maintain accurate service records and reports on completed work, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Collaboration & Communication - Work closely with site managers, operators, and engineering teams to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
• Emergency Callouts & Additional Hours - Respond to urgent repairs as needed and be available for occasional weekend or additional work depending on demand.

Experience

• A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Plant Engineer or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of industrial machinery, systems, and processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to manufacturing operations.
• Proficient in using engineering software and tools for design and analysis.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
