My client is an award-winning organisation that provides compactor and baler machines across the UK. They also collect thousands of tonnes of material annually for recycling and recovery from a diverse clientele, which includes major retail, manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution companies, as well as local authorities, hospitals, shopping centers, garden centers, and recyclers. Established in 2000, they hold ISO9001, ISO14001, CHAS, Safe Contractor, and Altius accreditations.
They are currently seeking a workshop technician to join their repair and refurbishment team at their workshop situated between Tonbridge and Maidstone. This role is essential to the team, involving not only repairs but also restoring pre-owned compactors and balers to a high standard for return to clients or resale.
Role
The Workshop Technician is responsible for performing repairs and refurbishments on both new and existing machines in the workshop, as well as servicing various types of recycling equipment, including hydraulic and electrical repairs.
Responsibilities
Ensure equipment is repaired or refurbished to an acceptable standard
Carry out general workshop duties
Maintain a clean, tidy, and hazard-free workshop and surrounding area
Keep an accurate record of parts and all work done on machines entering the workshop
Safely load and unload delivery and company vehicles using a Forklift Truck, completing the H&S checklist before each use
Place orders for stock parts
Occasionally assist mobile engineers on-site
Preferred Skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Familiarity with electrical wiring diagrams
Knowledge of hydraulic systems
Experience in welding and fabrication
Proficiency in mechanical systems
Strong work ethic
