The Role
As the Kitchen Manager at Calvert Exmoor, you'll play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety while promoting a collaborative, positive work environment. Our kitchen team is made up of passionate, team-oriented individuals who are dedicated to delivering outstanding guest experiences.
You ll bring a solid understanding of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, and inventory management to the table. Your proactive approach will be essential in overseeing meal preparation for a wide range of guests, including those with dietary restrictions and special needs. We're committed to serving high-quality, nutritious meals, and as Kitchen Manager, you'll ensure that every aspect of the kitchen runs smoothly. With a focus on consistency and care, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with the same team and guests throughout their stay.
Key Responsibilities
What you will need
Essential
Leadership : Ability to lead and motivate a team creating a positive working environment.
Attention to Detail : Excellent cooking skills with a good understanding of produce and ingredients. Awareness of food allergens and special dietary requirements.
Communication : Strong, clear communication with kitchen staff and suppliers.
Organisation : Ability to prioritise and delegate effectively.
Planning : Ability to write menus which are creative and within budget.
Problem-solving : Quick thinking and ability to resolve issues calmly whilst under pressure.
Experience : Previous experience as a head chef or in a similar kitchen management role.
Qualifications : A professional cookery qualification. Food hygiene and safety certificates.
Skills : Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, and budget management.
Other : Excellent customer service with the ability to work a variety of shifts which include long hours and early starts and evenings and weekends on a rota basis. Own transport due to rural location.

Situated at the edge of Wistlandpound Reservoir, among beautiful pine forests and rippling streams, our fully accessible centre offers high quality facilities and professionally adaptive accommodation, all nestled within the rolling hills of Devon s Exmoor National Park.
