You'll beworking with children and young people with Autistic SpectrumDisorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. You'll be thereto help them learn, develop their abilities and raise theirself-esteem. You will need to be resilient and dedicated, but thosehuge small victories that you achieve will be something you'rereally proud of.

Our pupils come from many different boroughs to attend ourschool and are lucky to experience 'a life changing love oflearning.' Skill setrequirements -

• Must haveworked with pupils who are autistic and have previous experience ofthis

• Needs to be able tocommunicate in a variety of ways as 70% of our pupils arenon-verbal e.g. can use Makaton, picture display symbols - we usePEC's and PODD, have experience working with non -verbalpupils

• Have worked withpupils who display challenging behaviour but would have the willand desire to support pupils to manage their behaviour and also foryou to work to understand the function of thebehaviour

• Be flexible towork with pupils from 4 through to 11 yearsold

• Be able to think outsidethe box in regards to delivering lessons. We have lots of tools tohelp support this, but our pupils need a bespoke and accessiblecurriculum

Have anawareness of autism strategies such as TEACCH, attention autism anduse of PODD and be able to use these inpractise
