Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Newmarket (CB8) Duration: Permanent Hours: 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday - Thursday, 8.30am - 4pm Friday Salary: £45000 - £65000 Job Reference: 35591 Polytec are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design for new product development for our client based at Newmarket. We are seeking a creative and innovative designer to provide expert technical guidance to the mechanical design team and maintain a high-quality technical output on time and to cost. Responsibilities: * Producing detailed designs using 3D CAD and use of FEA tools to simulate mechanical behaviour * Overseeing hands-on fabrication and testing of prototypes, validating design performance and functionality * Undertaking tolerance analysis of designs including GD and T * Working to appropriate standards (BS8888 and ISO standards) * Producing documentation to support development of products and acting as Lead Engineer on projects and bids when required Requirements: * Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) * 5+ years' experience in product design, development and engineering to support manufacture in medium to high volumes * Experience developing mechanical design solutions through entire product life cycle using 3D CAD packages (ideally SolidWorks) * Broad knowledge of component manufacturing processes and techniques, materials, treatments and finishes and their environmental implications * Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact with peers and stakeholders in a variety of formats (e.g. via technical reports and presentations) Please contact us as soon as possible for more details or apply below
