Technical Sales Estimator

Bennett and Game are currently working with a provider of high-quality asphalt and surfacing solutions, delivering projects across the UK. With a reputation for excellence and over 40 years of industry experience, they work on a range of projects, from highways and infrastructure to commercial and private developments.

They are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Estimator to join their team. This role will involve combining technical knowledge with commercial acumen to provide accurate estimates, manage client relationships, and secure new business opportunities. The Technical Sales Estimator will be based from a satellite office around the south of England and will require travel to sites and client meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for surfacing and asphalt projects.
• Engaging with clients to understand their requirements and providing tailored technical solutions.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to identify sales opportunities and secure profitable work.
• Conducting site visits and assessments to evaluate project scope, requirements, and technical challenges.
• Producing high-quality tender submissions that effectively communicate project value and technical solutions.
• Providing technical guidance to clients regarding product specifications, installation methods, and project feasibility.
• Identifying opportunities for value engineering to improve project outcomes and reduce costs.
• Collaborating with project managers and the commercial team to ensure estimates align with project delivery requirements.
• Managing project costs, valuations, and budgets to ensure profitability.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Sales Estimator or similar role within the surfacing, asphalt, or civil engineering industry.
• Strong understanding of technical specifications, product performance, and installation requirements.
• Excellent sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
• Experience preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.
• Familiarity with NEC and JCT contracts
• Proficiency in relevant software such as Excel and industry-specific estimating tools.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.
