Year 2, ASD Support - GBP105 PER DAY MINIMUM

Position Overview

Empowering Learning is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive Year 2 team at a mainstream primary school in Hounslow. The role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). The LSA will assist the pupil during core subjects (Maths and English) and phonics interventions, ensuring they receive the necessary support to engage with the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with ASD, ensuring their needs are met both individually and in group settings.
• Assist the pupil in core subjects (Maths and English), adapting resources and teaching strategies to support their learning.
• Support phonics intervention to help develop reading and language skills.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and TA to implement effective classroom strategies and promote an inclusive environment.
• Monitor and document the pupil's progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher.
• Encourage the pupil's social and emotional development, ensuring they feel supported in the classroom.
• Create and maintain a positive, safe, and nurturing learning environment for the pupil.

Class Structure

• The class consists of approximately 28 pupils, with a teacher and a class TA.
• The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, TA, and other support staff.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children, preferably with ASD and special educational needs.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Experience or knowledge in supporting literacy and numeracy, including phonics.
• Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with staff and parents.
• A commitment to inclusive education, ensuring the pupil's educational needs are met.

Location : Hounslow, West London
Start Date : Immediate start
Contract Duration : Until July 2025 (minimum)
Hours : Monday to Friday, Full-time
Salary : Competitive, depending on experience ( 105 per day minimum)
