The Role As the Credit & Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all financial and accounting operations. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially minded individual who can work collaboratively with the leadership team and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Financial Oversight & Reporting * Full responsibility for cash management, including sales and purchase ledgers * Preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheets, and budget variance reports * Stock and fixed asset management, ensuring accurate reporting * Sales analysis & forecasting as part of the management accounts pack * Cash flow forecasting and bank reconciliations * Budget creation, monitoring, and reporting Credit Control & Risk Management * Manage the company’s invoice finance facility and banking relationships * Oversee customer credit control and debt management, ensuring timely payments * Provide weekly credit risk reports to directors and manage customer credit limits * Handle credit insurance policies, liaising with brokers and underwriters to mitigate risk Payroll, Compliance & Supplier Management * Ensure statutory payments are made to HMRC * Manage VAT compliance, including import and export requirements * Oversee payroll processing through Sage Payroll * Control supplier payments, including international and foreign currency transactions Strategic Business Support * Support the leadership team in strategic business planning * Provide advice on financing acquisitions and investment opportunities * Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency What We’re Looking For * Significant accounting experience at a management level within a commercial environment * Proficiency in Sage 50 Cloud, Sage Payroll, and Excel * Experience in credit risk management is desirable * AAT Level 4 or CIMA finalist preferred (CICM qualification is an advantage) * Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and with external stakeholders What’s on Offer * Competitive salary (DOE) * Discretionary annual bonuses based on company performance * A chance to be part of a stable, growing business with a strong reputation in the steel industry * Career progression opportunities, with scope to influence company-wide financial decisions This is a fantastic role for someone looking to take ownership of a finance function within a fast-paced, commercially focused steel stockholder.
