Mechanical Design Engineer – Consumer & Industrial Machinery Location: Hertfordshire Salary: £40k-£55k Are you an experienced Design Engineer looking to develop innovative machinery and powered products? Platform Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of new machinery and enhancements to existing products. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on new and innovative machinery for industrial and consumer use, designing robust and high-performance solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in product development, engineering analysis, and problem-solving within the consumer or industrial machinery sector. Key Responsibilities: + Lead development of new product concepts and improvements to existing products + Conduct engineering analysis + Design components, including sheet metal parts, weldments, castings, and vacuum-formed plastics + Develop product design plans, including budgets and schedules + Support prototyping, testing, and validation to optimise product performance + Manage documentation, including technical drawings and bills of materials Key Requirements: + Degree in relevant Engineering discipline + Strong 3D CAD skills + Experience in designing machinery or consumer products + Manufacturing knowledge - sheet metal fabrication, casting, and plastic moulding + Hands-on mechanical skills – work with tools in a workshop environment + Ability to conduct engineering analysis + Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and innovative approach If you're a passionate Design Engineer with experience in machinery or consumer products, apply today with your updated CV
