Job Summary:

Our client, Dorset Council, is looking for a dedicated and skilled Level 2 Refuse Driver to join their Waste and Recycling Services team at Bridport Depot . This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient collection of refuse, recycling, and other waste materials while maintaining exceptional service standards for local residents and businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Supervise and assist the collection crew in loading and unloading waste.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of collection routes.
• Conduct vehicle checks, report defects, and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and council policies.
• Engage with the public professionally and address queries.
• Report incidents, disruptions, or issues to the line manager.
• Assist with additional duties, such as bin deliveries when required.

Essential Requirements:

• Valid Category C , LGV/HGV licence with CPC qualification.
• Experience in driving and operating refuse collection vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices in the waste management sector.
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
• Good problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience working within a local authority waste collection service.
• Knowledge of Bridport and surrounding areas.
• Mechanical knowledge of refuse collection vehicles.
• Additional relevant training, such as first aid or manual handling.

Job Type: Temp to perm

Pay: 12.85 per hour
