Payroll & Accounts Manager


Portfolio Payroll are currently working with a large organisation in the Manchester area who are currently recruiting for a Payroll & Accounts Manager to join their team. They provide an excellent working environment, work from home opportunity and fantastic perks & benefits!

The client is going through a period of growth and need a non-managing Payroll & Accounts professional from an accountancy practice background to join their busy payroll department.

The role may require some office presence in Manchester one to two times a month.

To be best suitable for this role you will also have a short notice of less than a month.

Key Duties/Tasks:

Manage the full end-to-end payroll process for client payrolls, ensuring that all payrolls are accurate, completed on time, and all statutory submissions are performed within required deadlines
Auto-enrolment duties on client payrolls including upload of new starters, monthly contributions and cyclical re-enrolment
Processing accounts/accounting responsibilities for clients
Sit in Client meetings to discuss issues and priorities
Working well with conflicting priorities and deadlines
Operate flexibly and have a desire to learn new systems and processes in a supportive environment
Be proactive and accountable to the highest calibre of professionalism, service and accuracy

Desirable skills and attributes:

Experience of Sage People or Brain Payroll is essential
Experience managing high volume payroll(s) with 1000+ Employees
Experience of working in an accountancy practice is essential
Experience of processing accounts responsibilities within an accountancy practice
Strong Excel Skills, including competency in vlookup, pivot tables and intermediate formulas
Knowledge of P11Ds/payrolled benefits
Communicative fluency, both verbal and in documentation
Ability to manage own workload fully independently
Excitement about flexibility, independence, initiative and knowledge-sharing in your job
