Accounts Assistant

Right now, we're looking for a Finance Support Specialist to join us! Reporting directly to the Directors, this is a fantastic opportunity to step into a role where you'll have real ownership and impact. You'll be the go-to person for all things finance-your domain, your expertise, your chance to shape the role.

We'd love for you to start in April 2025, allowing for a smooth handover and an easy transition. While we don't offer hybrid or remote work, we fully support flexible working hours on non-critical days like Monday and Tuesday. We're thinking 30-hour week!

The focus of the role is to assist the business owner with the financial aspects of the business.

Bank Recs
VAT Returns
Payroll Admin, we use an Accountancy firm for payroll so you would be responsible for ensuring the information provided is accurate. This part of the role includes:

Collate and forward P46, Bank Details weekly to payroll
Check, chase and process timesheets
Download clock cards from clients where used
Log all temp hours
Process and charge any agreed expenses (mileage, parking etc)
Unput candidates, bookings and hours on to E-Tips (Marshalls temps)
Check payslips
Allocate payslips to individual invoices to calculate margins
Complete deductions paperwork for Child Maintenance etc
Process monthly HMRC payments for tax, NI, student loans etc

Finance accounts

Upload invoices
Allocate payments
Reconcile weekly reports
Monitor and Withdraw funds as required
Submit monthly reports
Calculate Holiday Pay
Dealing with temp queries on hours, holiday pay etc
Book holidays on system
Provide reports to certain client when necessary.
Year-end accounts preparation for Accountants

As required:

Prepare update contracts using REC website when legal changes occur and changes in Minimum Wage
Update Terms of Business using REC website when legal changes occur
Maintain spreadsheets for weekly revenue, permanent placements etc for bonus payments
Monitor and record permanent Meyer Scott staff holiday and sickness records

You will need to be super organised, come with robust finance experience.

Live local to St Ives PE27 5BH.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel and Xero accounting software.
A good level of numeracy as you will be carrying out financial duties.
A willingness to work 9am - 5.30 Monday & Tuesday with some flexibility on other days dependent on business needs.

4 weeks' holiday, plus all Bank Holiday rising by a day a year up to 5 years.
Usually, Christmas holidays are not taken out of leave.
