Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Experience with ASD, Autism, Personal Care & Complex Needs)

About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team in supporting a student with ASD, Autism, personal care needs, and complex needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that the student has the best opportunity to thrive in their education and development. This is a rewarding role that requires a patient, understanding, and proactive individual.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to a student with ASD, Autism, and complex needs within the classroom.
Assist with personal care needs, including toileting and feeding as required.
Help implement individualised learning plans to promote the student's academic, social, and emotional development.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to ensure a tailored approach.
Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage the student's engagement in learning activities.
Assist with emotional regulation and support the student in managing any challenging behaviours.
Adapt learning resources and activities to meet the student's needs and abilities.
Requirements:
Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with children with ASD, Autism, and complex needs.
Experience with personal care and supporting children with additional needs.
A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to working with students.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN support (desirable).
Desirable Skills:
Experience with PECs (Picture Exchange Communication System) or other communication tools.
Phonics (Letters and Sounds) Team Teach, Makaton SEMH
Knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
Understanding of sensory processing difficulties and strategies to support students with these needs.
