Materials Manager

Materials Manager * Up to £40,000 per annum depending on experience * Established and well- respected company * National Company * Excellent working environment * Has a credible record of long-term staff members Our client based in Burnley has a reputation for innovation and they are a highly successful global player in their chosen industry. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a materials Manager on their behalf. Your role as Materials Manager will be to manage and optimise the Company’s inventory and purchasing operations. The Job * Ensuring 100% raw material/components availability for planned assembly and manufacture, enabling efficient operations and minimising waste. * Monitoring material costs and stock holding; identifying cost saving opportunities. * Setting, reviewing and amending data parameters by line item on the Microsoft NAV ERP system * Addressing material shortages, quality issues, and other supply chain challenges. * Ensure minimum safe stock holding consistent with the above. * Liaise with R&D to introduce and source new parts and maintain integrity of Bills of Materials. * Responsibility for two staff; negotiate key supply contacts directly as appropriate. * Ensure accurate inventory reporting in raw materials and work in progress. * Provide analysis via Microsoft NAV and Spreadsheet to the Board. Example: ageing of stock, obsolescence, cut-off recommendations on design change. * Setting standard purchase prices and re-setting as appropriate. * Control of subcontract manufacturers. * Vision of whole cost of acquisition, considering storage, shipping and other associated costs. About you * Proven experience in stock control, inventory management, and planning within a fast-paced, highly agile and dynamic operation. * Excellent forensic/cause-and-effect analysis skills to evaluate consequences of available procurement scenarios. Anticipate and head off problems. * A minimum of three years’ experience in a comparable role. * Good knowledge of ERP systems. * Good negotiation skills. * Excellent spreadsheet ability.
