Yard Operative/ Forklift Driver

Yard Operative (Forklift Licence Required) Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 5:30 pm, with alternate Saturdays from 7:00 am – 1:00 pm Join a well-established, family-owned builders’ merchant at the vibrant West Hampstead branch, and play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations. As a Yard Operative, you’ll be the backbone of the team, keeping the warehouse organised, handling materials safely, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. What Is Required: * Forklift Licence: A valid counterbalance forklift licence is required for moving building materials and ensuring everything is in its proper place. * Team Player: Ability to work well with colleagues, take ownership of tasks, and thrive in independent work situations. * Dynamic: Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to handle a busy yard. * Good Communication: Ability to interact with customers and colleagues to ensure smooth operations. * Safety First: A strong understanding of health and safety regulations. * Experience: Previous experience in an outdoor environment or similar role is a plus. Key Responsibilities: * Safely load and unload delivery vehicles using the forklift, ensuring efficient storage of materials. * Keep the yard tidy, organised, and ensure materials are easily accessible. * Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with loading/unloading and offering product advice. * Adhere to health and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment. * Regularly check forklifts and yard equipment, reporting any maintenance needs promptly. * Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth yard operations and on-time deliveries. * Perform other manual handling tasks and yard maintenance as needed.
