Position Overview: As an Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the project management team by preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a wide range of civil engineering projects. This will include works in groundworks, surfacing, drainage, roads, sewers, and streetworks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in groundworks and civils, and a thorough understanding of the industry's requirements. Key Responsibilities: * Prepare detailed estimates for civil engineering projects (groundworks, surfacing, drainage, roads, sewers, streetworks). * Review and analyse project specifications, drawings, and site surveys. * Calculate accurate costs for labour, materials, and equipment required for each project. * Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to gather quotations and information for cost analysis. * Provide support in assessing risks and project timelines. * Collaborate closely with the project management team to ensure estimates are aligned with project goals and budgets. * Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Essential Requirements: * Proven experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering sector, with a strong background in groundworks and civils. * In-depth knowledge of civil engineering processes, materials, and construction methods. * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and team members. * Excellent organisational and time-management skills. * Ideally based near the North Manchester area (or willing to commute). * Freelance availability, with the potential for a permanent role for the right candidate. Desirable Skills: * Experience working on public and private sector projects. * Proficiency in estimation software. * Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and industry best practices.
