Your new role
Our client is seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Leeds for a 6 million new build project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of the project, ensuring that it is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work on a large-scale and high-profile project from start to finish.
Responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the financial management of a 6 million new build project, ensuring it stays within budget.
Preparing and managing cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports.
Monitoring and controlling project costs, including value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
Managing subcontractor tendering processes, including negotiation, selection, and contract management.
Ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements.
Collaborating with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
Providing regular progress reports and forecasts to senior management and clients.
Managing change orders and variations, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
Preparing final accounts and project closeout reports.
Mentoring and guiding junior team members as required.
What you will need to succeed:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on new build projects, ideally with a value of 5 million or more.
Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, and contract administration.
Experience in managing the financial aspects of large-scale projects, including subcontractor procurement and tendering.
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Membership or working towards membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is advantageous.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
The ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
A proactive approach to managing risks and resolving issues.
