Customs Clearance Supervisor - Lichfield - Up to £40,000 As a Customs Clearance Supervisor, you will oversee the customs department, ensuring that all customs requirements are carried out in a timely and compliant manner. You will also manage a team, identify issues, and implement operational changes to improve efficiency. You will be responsible for your team's operational activities, meeting targets, and ensuring that high-quality standards are consistently maintained. Your role involves liaising closely with the Operations team, customers, and suppliers to ensure all relevant customs documents are generated and systems are updated. Job type: Permanent Hours: 08:30 - 17:30 Monday to Friday Salary: Up to £40,000 (DOE) Hybrid working: Available after completion of probation Key Responsibilities: Support and advise customers/suppliers on all international import/export customs queries Promote and advise customers on the Customs Consortium Ensure excellent customer service with proactive communication Complete declarations accurately and within required time frames Provide outstanding customer service and advise on declaration completion, VAT, and duty payments Identify and resolve any customs issues that may cause shipment delays Build, develop, and support the customs team, focusing on continuous improvement Conduct one-to-one meetings with team members to discuss performance and gather feedback Ensure files are ready for invoicing in time for month-end Monitor, analyze, and report on departmental data Present a monthly summary to the Operations Director Ensure compliance with HMRC and other relevant authorities Create training materials and provide internal training when necessary Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements Use customer reports to evaluate departmental client bases and revenue distribution Visit clients to strengthen relationships and develop business opportunities Supervision: Assist and train others in the team Serve as the first point of contact for escalations within the team or with customers Resolve operational and administrative queries promptly Handle more complex enquiries and issues Conduct regular performance management and development reviews Skills & Experience required: Strong knowledge of customs processes (European, Sea, and Air) Right to work in the UK (No sponsorship on offer) Experience with different types of customs entries and documentation Good understanding of import VAT, duty, and quotas Familiarity with customs platforms and software Ability to build relationships quickly with customers and suppliers Strong organisational and time-management skills Ability to work effectively in a target-driven environment WR Logistics are the #1 recruitment partner for all vacancies in the logistics industry.
