Steel Erector


Key Responsibilities 1. Steel Framework Assembly: * Erect steel columns, beams, girders, and trusses according to engineering drawings and specifications. * Bolt, weld, or rivet steel components into place. * Ensure structures are plumb, level, and aligned. 2. Blueprint Interpretation: * Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and CAD models to guide assembly. 3. Equipment Operation: * Operate cranes, hoists, and other machinery to lift and position steel components. * Use hand and power tools (e.g., spud wrenches, torque wrenches, welding equipment). 4. Safety Compliance: * Follow strict health and safety protocols, including working at height regulations (e.g., harnesses, scaffolding, mobile elevated work platforms). * Conduct risk assessments and adhere to CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations. 5. Collaboration: * Work alongside site managers, welders, crane operators, and other trades. * Report progress or issues to supervisors. 6. Quality Control: * Inspect steel components for defects or damage before installation. * Ensure compliance with British/European steel construction standards (e.g., BS EN 1090). Skills and Qualifications 1. Certifications: * CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) or NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) card for operating cranes or lifting equipment. * CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) – often mandatory for site access. * Welding certifications (e.g., coded welder status) if required for the role. 2. Experience: * Prior experience in steel erection, construction, or structural engineering. * Familiarity with steel grades, connection types (bolted vs. welded), and load-bearing principles 3. CIS payed
