We are seeking a talented Technical Product Development Engineer to join our Body Test Operations (BTO) team in Gaydon, UK on a contract basis. This role involves planning and managing physical prototype test properties to support the development and approval of body components. These properties, often referred to as 'rigs', typically consist of a painted body shell equipped only with the parts necessary for a specific test, rather than a fully assembled vehicle, and a number of supporting 'kits' of parts.
For some of the new models currently in development, we are also planning, building, and managing a large number of Instrument Panels & Floor Consoles (IP&Cs) assemblies to support development and sign-off testing. You will lead the activities related to these IP&C properties.
Key Responsibilities:
Overall end-to-end coordination and responsibility for two models worth of IP&C assemblies from planning through to delivery.
Gathering and consolidation of requirements from engineering customers.
Planning and management of Bills of Materials (BoM) for these assemblies, aligning them to the required build level and part maturities.
Coordination and management of parts ordering, rate and flow, part shortage meetings, and issue resolution, particularly for content not yet released by engineering.
Coordination of build planning, rate and flow, and support for property build, resolving issues, and coordinating logistics of the properties into test.
Essential Skills:
Robust and demonstrable Excel skills with an understanding of Bills of Materials (BoMs) and CAD visualization.
Engineering and testing background.
Project management with robust cross-functional working.
Automotive engineering build and/or test experience.
