Location: London, (hybrid with commitment of 1 -2 days per week/fortnight in the office) Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full time Salary: £50 - £55K+ (dependant on experience) Purpose of Job: To support the CEO and Executive Directors in delivering a company-wide internal communications and engagement approach that supports our company strategy and ensures that colleagues feel informed, engaged and valued. At a time of exciting and ambitious organisational change, this role will be responsible for developing internal communications and engagement initiatives to engage and inform senior leaders, key stakeholders and colleagues across the company. To develop and deliver an internal communications strategy and communications plan in line with our company strategy and objectives. To work closely with the Executive to craft organisational messaging around internal initiatives. To continually develop and populate the MDU’s internal communication platform, “Synapse”, with content, and promote it as the go to source for all staff communication and engagement activity. To support the communication of, and staff engagement with, the company-wide Strategic Change Programme. To champion the MDU’s culture and values and engage colleagues with these through our internal communications activities. Key Responsibilities Ensure the MDU’s strategy, initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to colleagues, displaying sensitivity to organisational goals and values and the ability to relay them. Work closely with Executive directors and the SLT to draft company-wide messaging, in written, visual or spoken form – including presentations for all-staff events. Support the MDU’s strategic change programme with an engaging communications plan – identifying company-wide requirements and providing support for department-specific activities. Work closely with Executive directors to deliver a programme of activities to engage colleagues with the MDU’s values, culture and purpose. Work with colleagues across the business – including but not limited to our Medicolegal Advisers, Dentolegal Advisers and in-house lawyers – to profile our work supporting members and bring the voice of the member into our internal communications work. Provide best practice communication advice and support to senior leaders to help share key strategic initiatives and projects internally. Promote, maintain and grow the use of Synapse as a company-wide communication and engagement hub. Plan, edit and write engaging, relevant content to inform and engage MDU colleagues including – but not limited to – emails, presentations, videos and articles. Manage internal stakeholder expectations and keep them informed of progress. Work with our media, social media and public affairs teams to identify opportunities to repurpose content across audiences. Provide line management for the Communications Officer and Change Communications Officer, including (but not limited to) identifying and agreeing work priorities, setting objectives and managing performance and development. As part of the Communications department, be on-hand to provide press/social media advice to members who may require assistance: in conjunction with agreed policies, in consultation with the Head of Comms and the relevant Professional Services colleagues. Undertake such other tasks as may be delegated by the Communications department leadership team. Qualifications and skills Experience in relevant communications roles – preferably with involvement in developing and delivering communications strategies in a similar company Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with experience in writing for a variety of different audiences Strong interpersonal skills including influencing, negotiating, and relationship-building with the ability to deal confidently with senior colleagues and explain communication techniques to them. Ability to gain credibility quickly in dealing with and advising senior managers and the Executive Strong speaking/presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders Exceptional attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving skills Comfortable dealing with change, ambiguity, and conflicting priorities Knowledge of digital and social media tools and how they can be used to connect and positively influence engagement Experience of employee engagement activities Understands stakeholder communications, internal communications and employee engagement best practice Previous experience supervising and training team members You may also have experience in the following: PR Officer, Public Relations, Media Relations, PR Specialist, Corporate Communications, Marketing Communications, Marcomms, Marcoms, Press Relations, Communications Executive, Copywriting, Communications Officer, Senior Communications Officer, Communications Manager etc. REF-(Apply online only)
