Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP40,000 per annum

Location: Wantage

Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Human Resources Manager on behalf of one of our clients.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Full-time working from 0830 to 1730 Monday to Friday, with a daily hour unpaid break period, totalling 40 hours per week. Flexibility is required and your working hours may need to be changed to cover for absence / holiday and to meet business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with first line HR advice to managers on employee relations and HR guidance to employees, either face-to-face, by telephone or through the HR dedicated email inbox.
  • Delivery of first-class customer service to all stakeholders, building trust and sound relationships both in the business and within HR.
  • Processing employee administration including employee contracts, changes to employee s terms and conditions of employment etc.
  • Assistance with maintenance of HR records and preparation of reports and management information from HR data for further analysis.
  • Co-ordination of all onboarding.
  • Assistance with the probationary review process, making sure probationary reports are prepared by managers. Identifying any reports which are unsatisfactory and bringing these to the attention of the HR Manager. Confirming completion of probationary periods, extending probationary periods with further reviews and maintaining the probationary review schedule on the HR calendar.
  • Assistance with compilation and recording of attendance, timekeeping and sickness absence including return to work interviews, requesting medical reports and preparation of documentation for welfare and capability meetings.
  • Assistance with updating of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assistance with the recruitment process as required.
  • Assistance with learning and development administration, including forwarding appropriate joining instructions, keeping records of staff ending training and updating training records as appropriate. Design and delivery of toolbox talks and in-house training sessions.
  • Minute taking and managing notes for meetings as required.
  • Actively looking for ways to improve the HR service and reviewing working processes.
  • Supporting the implementation of HR changes and projects to ensure best practice and legal compliance.
  • Assistance with organisational departmental planning.
  • Assistance with performance management and improvement systems.
  • Support with organisational development.
  • Assistance with policy development and documentation in line with current employment legislation, ensuring line managers are up to date with changes to any policies.
  • Compensation and benefits administration.
  • Employee safety, welfare, wellness and health.
  • Employee services and counselling.
  • Working with senior managers, coaching them and advising on all people issues.
  • Dealing with complex HR issues, using HR and company knowledge evidencing appropriate decision-making skills.
  • Leaver process including leaver correspondence, calculating outstanding annual leave, exit interviews and updating of organisation charts.
  • Maintaining the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions / person specifications for all positions.
  • Maintaining accurate records in compliance with data protection and company confidentiality requirements.
  • To follow and ensure staff follow standard operating procedures to maintain quality (BS EN ISO 9001: 2008), health and safety (OHSAS 18001: 2007) and environmental (ISO 14001: 2015) management compliance.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • CIPD Level 7 or the equivalent experience (Essential).
  • Previous experience working in an HR environment.
  • Good general administration experience.
  • Previous background of supporting a recruitment process.
  • Understanding of ongoing legislative changes which affect HR policies and processes.
  • Demonstrable experience in assisting with TUPE, redundancy and other HR projects.
  • Strong understanding of employment law.
  • Experience of producing accurate and complex employment documentation and correspondence using IT applications.
  • Experience of maintaining comprehensive records.
  • Proven success of prioritising workload, time management and dealing with conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to deal sensitively, tactfully and appropriately with confidential information.
  • Full clean driving licence valid in UK.
