Ambitek are looking to recruit for our client, a leading UK-based precision engineering company, serving industries such as Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Power Generation, and Rail. Based in Coventry, they offer a comprehensive range of in-house services, including CNC machining, EDM, deep hole drilling, and grinding.
As part of their continued investment and expansion, they are looking for an experienced Universal Grinder to join the skilled engineering team.
Role Overview
As a Universal Grinder, you will be responsible for producing precision-ground components to tight tolerances using manual and/or semi-automatic grinding machines. You will work from technical drawings and use precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet exact specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate universal and cylindrical grinding machines
Work to tight tolerances on a range of materials including exotic alloys
Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings
Carry out in-process inspection using micrometers, verniers, and bore gauges
Maintain machine cleanliness and ensure grinding wheels are dressed appropriately
Perform quality checks and document results in accordance with company standards
Support continuous improvement efforts and identify opportunities for process optimization
Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental procedures
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as a Universal Grinder in a precision engineering environment, cylindrical grinding, surface grinding, jig grinding & internal grinding.
Proficient in the use of manual grinding machines (Jones & Shipman experience beneficial)
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances
Ability to inspect own work using conventional measurement tools
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Hours Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00
