Lynx Recruitment is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join our prestigious client, a well-established logistics and distribution company based in the South West region.

About the Role:

This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated Transport Manager with CPC certification to take ownership of fleet operations for our client. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with transport regulations, managing a team of drivers, and overseeing vehicle maintenance schedules while driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a team of professional HGV drivers, fostering a culture of safety and compliance
  • Maintain the company's Operator's License and ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations
  • Monitor and manage drivers' hours, tachograph records, and working time directive requirements
  • Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules, including inspections, servicing, and MOTs
  • Lead health and safety initiatives within the transport department
  • Liaise with customers to ensure service expectations are consistently met
  • Analyze and improve KPIs related to fleet efficiency and performance
  • Manage transport-related budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Handle driver recruitment, training, and development
  • Respond effectively to any transport-related incidents or emergencies

Requirements:

  • Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification (National or International Road Haulage)
  • Proven experience as a Transport Manager or in a similar senior role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK transport legislation and DVSA requirements
  • Experience managing driver compliance and vehicle maintenance systems
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Health and Safety knowledge (IOSH qualification desirable)
  • Computer literacy with experience of transport management systems
  • Strong communication skills and customer service focus

Desirable:

  • ADR knowledge/qualification
  • FORS/CLOCS familiarity
  • Experience with digital tachograph analysis systems
  • Fleet management qualifications
