1:1 Year 1 Teaching Assistant

Job Description:

We are recruiting on behalf of a primary city Academy that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide individualised support for a Year 1 student. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for the student while working collaboratively with the class teacher and other support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one support to a Year 1 student with specific learning needs.
• Assist in the development and implementation of personalised educational plans.
• Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt and differentiate lessons to meet the student's needs.
• Foster positive relationships to support the student's social and emotional development.
• Monitor and record the student's progress, providing regular feedback to the teacher.
• Implement behavioural strategies and interventions as directed by the teacher or SENCO.
• Encourage the student's independence and participation in classroom activities.
• Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on the student's progress.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, preferably in Year 1.
• Understanding of child development and learning principles.
• Empathy, patience, and a passion for supporting individual student needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and clearances as required by the school.
