SEND Tribunal Officer

New Post Interim SEND Tribunal Officer 3 Months Interim Contract Inside IR35 £400P/D Full time – Hybrid London- Local authority   We’re looking for a skilled and motivated SEND Tribunal and Dispute Resolution Lead to join a dynamic team and drive meaningful change within a Local Authority. In this vital role, you will: Provide leadership in tribunal cases and formal disagreements, representing the Local Authority in legal settings and defending proposed service provisions. Prepare comprehensive evidence for tribunals and the Local Government Ombudsman, liaising with SEND services, legal teams, and multi-agency practitioners. Promote mediation and early problem resolution to reduce tribunal cases and achieve timely, collaborative outcomes. Lead resolution meetings, negotiating adjustments to Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans where necessary to meet the needs of children and families. Build relationships with schools and agencies to enhance best practices in assessment, planning, and person-centred approaches.To thrive in this role, you will need to: Be a highly organised individual with exceptional communication and negotiation skills. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of SEND legislation, processes, and best practices. Be confident in representing the Local Authority in formal legal settings, including SEND Tribunal hearings. Have experience in mediation and resolving disputes sensitively and effectively.
