Senior R&D Technologist Location: Peterborough, United Kingdom Salary: £45-55k DOE Key Responsibilities: * Lead new product development (NPD) for a key global client, collaborating cross-functionally and with other company sites to drive product improvements and portfolio expansion. * Ensure product design aligns with business objectives by delivering innovative solutions within project constraints. * Manage NPD initiatives for strategic projects, including cost optimisation, regulatory compliance, and process improvements. * Oversee HACCP/HARA sign-off and lead R&D audits. * Some travel within EMEA, and occasionally beyond, to support customer needs. * Engage with third parties, including suppliers and industry specialists, to stay updated on ingredient innovations, technologies, and regulatory changes. * Provide technical support to customers through meetings, presentations, and written communication to enhance client relationships. Candidate Profile: * Degree or equivalent qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, or a related field. * Hands-on development experience. * Prior experience in customer-facing roles, ideally with Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs); additional expertise in coatings, seasonings, or sweet syrups is beneficial. * Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. * Capable of independently managing projects and contributing to business growth. * Proficiency in project and team management, including prioritisation and flexibility. * Comfortable representing the company in customer meetings, product trials, and project updates. * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade, and resolve conflicts in a dynamic environment. * Understanding of the financial impact of product development decisions. * Knowledge of the development process, from concept to plant trials, with the ability to apply technical expertise effectively. * Commitment to maintaining company standards in administration, health & safety, and good manufacturing practices (GMP). * Full, clean UK driving licence required.
