Principal / Head of Substation Electrical Design Excellent six figure package to attract, Car, Pension, Healthcare The Substation Principal Engineer is a senior member of the Electrical Design team, responsible for leading the Substations design team and assisting in work winning and Project delivery of Substations design projects. This is a group wide position, assisting in design of infrastructure projects across the UK. We require someone with suitable senior experience, holding a driving licence and able to attend sites when required. The role can be home or office based. Responsibilities; • Act as the technical authority and mentor and coach junior and senior electrical design team members. • Deliver Transmission and Distribution level substation primary plant design projects to targeted levels of quality, timeliness and profitability.to DNO and NGET standards. • Deliver detailed Substation plant design, layouts, plant specifications, short-circuit calculations, cable system design calculations, TMF calculations, ancillary equipment selection and specification. • Undertake site survey works and guide the team around constructability issues. • Be responsible for the design liability and risks associated with the correct primary design in relation to design change, compensation events, safe operability and adherence to industry standards and requirements. • Lead the team on all primary plant design including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear, Busbar and GIB, GIS cable termination through to MV AIS terminations, and other substation ancillary equipment at all system voltages up to 400kV • Have sound analytical and numeracy skills to reliably undertake primary design calculations • Have a solid understanding of the interface requirements of the civil/ structural aspects of HV substations • Lead design reviews to ensure that design quality, discipline and excellence • Identify any additional business development opportunities • Preparation, monitoring and delivery of cost budget for projects • Write technical proposals and high-quality Design Intent Documents (DID), Project Execution Plans (PEP), contribute to BIM Execution Plans (BEP) • Carrying out the role and responsibilities within the company’s SHEQ requirements and CDM2015 regulations. • Act as a CDM2015 Principal designer where appropriate for large substation design projects Salary Six Figures plus benefits package If you feel you have the appropriate level of experience please apply with CV in confidence and we will arrange a meeting
