Senior Accountant Job Overview

Take ownership of your own client portfolio, ensuring outstanding client service.

Prepare draft financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies for managerial review.

Complete draft business tax computations, ready for the tax manager's review.

Assist partners in finalising client meetings, including preparation of assignment highlight documentation.

Attend client finalisation meetings alongside partners and provide necessary support.

Conduct external audits from planning to completion.

Review junior team members' work, providing constructive feedback to maintain quality and accuracy.

Sign off final accounts for limited companies.

Respond to bookkeeping, taxation, and general accounting queries from clients; escalate as needed.

Prepare ad-hoc management accounts for clients as required.

Plan and manage own workload effectively to meet deadlines and ensure timely sign-off.

Maintain accurate client files and documentation in line with internal standards and deadlines.

Record chargeable time and ensure the recovery of all billable hours.

Support and mentor junior staff, answering queries and fostering professional growth.

Utilise various accounting platforms including SAP, IRIS, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Line 50, and CCH Central.
Senior Accountant Job Requirements

ACA or ACCA qualified with solid experience in a practice environment.

Proven experience managing a client portfolio and building client relationships.

Confident preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and business tax computations.

Skilled in external audit procedures (advantageous) and finalising accounts.

Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities to support junior colleagues.

Comfortable managing client meetings and delivering tailored advice.

Proficient with a range of accounting software and cloud-based platforms.
Senior Accountant Salary & Benefits

Salary: 39,000- 44,000

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (8:30 AM - 5 PM, flexible with a 1-hour lunch)

Holidays: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + 3 additional days over Christmas
