We have an exciting opportunity for a Peer Support Worker to work within our Work & Wellbeing team as part of a national trial aimed at testing individual placement support for employment for individuals belonging to a Homeless cohort.

We are a forward thinking, values driven housing association, and this role is based in the community – predominantly across Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley.

More about the role:

The role will be responsible for providing mentoring and guidance based on your own lived experiences around homelessness and unstable housing to individuals of a similar cohort as well as providing support and advice to employment specialists who are engaging these individuals to support them to secure employment and develop their confidence, wellbeing and health.

The role reports to the work and wellbeing Team Leader responsible for the project.

Who you are:

Our peer support service role is part of a wider employment team supporting people experiencing homelessness who want to work. Our Peer Support Worker will help the people receiving our support to be able to connect easily with us, to feel listened to, to grow their skills, and to thrive in work they want to do.

Our peer support worker role will work alongside employment specialists supporting people to overcome their barriers on their recovery journey back to work in a person-centred, non-judgemental and strengths-based way.

The right individual for the role should:

  • Have and show empathy based on their own experiences
  • Have digital skills (i.e. Microsoft excel, able to transact online)
  • Have great organisational and observational skills
  • Be Passionate about mentoring and supporting people
  • Be a good problem solver and motivator
