Child Care Solicitor

Childcare Solicitor West Midlands Local Authority Rate: £50-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOE Flexible Hybrid Working As a Childcare Solicitor, you will advise on and manage a diverse and challenging caseload involving child protection, education, adoption, Deprivation of Liberty (DOL) cases, and public law proceedings. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for conducting legal proceedings in Family, High, and County Courts. You will act as an advocate, including handling contested hearings, and play a key role in managing complex legal matters, often under time-sensitive statutory deadlines such as the 26-week care proceeding target. Key Responsibilities Manage complex childcare cases including adoption, DOL/LPS, and safeguarding matters. Represent the Council in court and conduct advocacy in multi-day contested hearings. Provide clear legal advice to Children's Services. Contribute to policy development and service improvement plans. Stay informed on legal developments and apply best practice. About You We're looking for a qualified Solicitor or Barrister entitled to practise in England, with substantial experience in childcare law and public sector legal services. You'll need: In-depth knowledge of child protection law, DOL/LPS, and adoption legislation. Proven track record of handling complex and high-risk legal cases. Advocacy experience in Family Courts and managing multi-day hearings. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong team ethic.
